Yin Yoga is a meditative, healing practice using passive, long-held floor poses. Yin bypasses the muscles and allows you to nourish and strengthen the deeper tissues. Connective tissues, fascia, joint, ligaments and bones receive gentle, low load stress during our practice. The poses are held in a quiet practice where we settle into an asana for 3-7 minutes. This allows us to slowly relax and soften our muscles. In turn, we begin to stretch our deep connective tissues.
Each Yin pose is an opportunity to go inward and find an appropriate balance of effort and ease. We then focus on creating space in the muscles, joints, and connective tissues while enhancing the mind-body connection. Each asana encourages students to go deeply into the pose with all levels of their being.
Yin yoga also provides balance to more active yang yoga practices like power Vinyasa and hatha and sports like running and aerobics. The body's well-being requires at least as much "muscle release" as "muscle engagement" for balance. Yin yoga is an intensely deep form of yoga and requires specialized study to teach or to deepen your personal yin practice.
Our 20-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training and Advanced Studies Program allows students to delve deeply into the practice during one intensive weekend including an over 100 page manual.
This teacher training will take you deep into the vital practice of Yin yoga. Yin yoga is a transformative practice for the body and mind. The passive, long held but gentle postures allow releasing of long held tightness in the deep tissues of the body while recharging the energetic systems. The Yin practice invites the mind inward into a contemplative meditative state, encourages the balance of effort and ease without strain, and promotes deep connection to the present moment. This experience will provide you with a solid foundation to teach Yin yoga, how to include Yin yoga in a more active class or simply to take your own practice to a much deeper level. Class size is limited so that you will have plenty of time for individualized attention.
